At Farrell Distributing, supporting Vermont businesses has always been an important part of who we are. That's why we're excited to welcome two locally rooted producers to the Farrell portfolio: Mad River Distillers and Vermont Cider Lab.
Both bring something unique to Vermont's beverage scene, while sharing a commitment to local craftsmanship and community that aligns naturally with Farrell's own Vermont roots.
Mad River Distillers
Based in Warren, Mad River Distillers produces award-winning craft spirits in the heart of the Mad River Valley, with its mashing, fermenting, distilling and aging taking place right here in Vermont.
Leading the company is President Mimi Buttenheim, a longtime Vermont beverage industry leader who has been with Mad River Distillers since 2015 and is actively involved in Vermont's broader business community.
Farrell is proud to introduce three of Mad River's new bourbon-based ready-to-drink cocktails:
- Bourbon Blood Orange Spritz
- Bourbon Green Mountain Mule
- Bourbon Blackberry Hibiscus Spritz
Made with real bourbon rather than a malt or neutral alcohol base, the new line brings Mad River's craft-spirit approach to a convenient canned format. With an "Enjoy Outdoors" message inspired by Vermont's outdoor culture, they're unmistakably Mad River — and unmistakably Vermont.
Vermont Cider Lab
Located in Essex, Vermont Cider Lab was founded by Vermont natives Chris Line and Karen Wisehart around their love of Vermont, cider and Labrador Retrievers.
Using local ingredients from local farms, Vermont Cider Lab creates fresh-pressed hard cider while its Essex taproom has become a gathering place for music, trivia and community events.
Farrell will initially distribute two of their ciders:
- Bubba — Traditional Dry Cider
- Stinker — Cranberry Cider
Vermont Businesses Growing Together
For Farrell, these partnerships are about more than adding new products. They're also about working with people who are invested in Vermont's business community.
That connection runs particularly deep: Mad River Distillers President Mimi Buttenheim, Vermont Cider Lab's Karen Wisehart and Farrell Distributing's Ryan Chaffin all serve on the Board of Directors of the Lake Champlain Chamber, helping support a strong and vibrant Greater Burlington business community.
As a fourth-generation Vermont family business, Farrell has always believed that strong local businesses help create strong local communities. Connecting Vermont-made products with retailers, restaurants and consumers across the state is one of the ways we can continue supporting the economy and communities we all call home.
